Just bought an Asustor nas 604t.
I was curious is there a way that we can format it, i mean the NAS itself not the hardisk.

As per asustor website. ADM is a linux OS.
Can we fdisk as same as linux and restore back the ADM 2.2 back?
Any precautious need to be taken beside backup?

Thanks

Replace the NAS firmware with what? And why would you want to do that in the first place?

The same firmware.. just want to clear all the file because i accidently install yum into it and other stuffs. Just like windows os. I like to have a clean installation. Because i suspect os corrupted. Have ssh into n do a ethtool speed check on network card show unknown speed instead of 1000.
Have try updated the ADM but unable as it stated the system is up to date.
Just wanna try if it possible or not.

Have you try "upgrading" using a older firmware version? And also doing a reset to factory default?

I'm not familiar with ADM but there is a possibility that whatever add-on you installed could be written to the HDD so do a search and remove all related files if found.

Will try that. Hope will be getting better transfer speed.
Currently do a Nas performer test show 5Mb/s only.
Previously still can hit 30. By right should b 100.
That why need to format it because the restore factory default seems to be using the same setting.

Cant find old firmware but do a factory default.

Installed file still in volume 0. My own hardisk is configure as raid 5. So i think it volume 0 is the asustor disk.
Speed after ethtool can reach 90 Mb.

But still prefer to format if possible.
Anyone can advise?
