Hi all ,

I've a spare HDD with winxp installed in it and im wanting to format it and use it as a storage drive.

On my current PC im running win 7 . Any tips on formatting the spare HDD ?

I tried plugging both HDD and it wont boot up at all. And if i only plug in the spare HDD it goes on bluescreen and loop reboot.

Any tips on formatting ?

Thanks !

First of all, tell us what do you see under "storage devices" in BIOS screen ?

Based on your description, I'm guessing your current PC is running Win 7 (AHCI mode) and the BIOS has made the "XP" HDD boot ahead of the Win 7 HDD.

Hence, the blue screen and bootloop.

Go into your BIOS, change the boot priority for "Win 7" HDD to be first.
After that, you should be able to boot into Win 7 and format your "XP" HDD.
