format usb drive to fat32

what is the right allocation unit size for 64 and 128 gb fat32 usb drive and any recommended simple freeware fat32 format tool ?

MiniTool Partition Wizard, fatguiformat and Fat32Formatter1.1 don't work for me. HPUSBDisk worked but there are some problems maybe because can't choose the allocation unit size.

using a Sandisk ultra dual drive m3.0 otg 64GB.

The best allocation unit size is device default... which may be hard to find documentation of for thumbdrives

So, don't be bothered by it too much.

Windows Explorer's format tool worked for me and I usually leave it at default allocation size.

Fat32 or ntfs is based on size of file. Size larger than 5gb uses ntfs, size smaller than 5gb uses fat32 format.

Also, if USB drive is use for Windows only. Try to use NTFS as default.

FAT32 is old format since win95, and in the past NTSF are for server to handle large files. (forget the name of server software).Which format do you think is better ? PLS don't shoot me

i only format to fat32 for compatiblity, my lousy phone cannot read ntfs.

NTFS for PC
FAT32 for removable media
exFAT for removable media if I expect files > 4GB, usually video files

Quite straightforward.
