FPS drop in Battlefield 4

When playing Battlefield 4 I get FPS drops in game. It is getting really irritating. I set at High settings for everthing and turn on 2 x msaa. With this I get about 65fps. So to get rid of FPS drop, I turn everything to low and set MSAA to 2x. I get 125 fps but still have fps drops to about 15 to 20. I updated the drivers already and no use. I also set nvidia to run at max performance.

This is my PC specs:
Intel i5 4670
Asus H87 plus
16Gb ram
Palit Gtx 1060 6GB
Western digital black 1TB

Any ideas what is causing this fps drops. I really run out of ideas to get rid of this FPS drop.

does turning off msaa 2x help?

What resolution you on?

BF1 is more CPU dependent than GPU fyi..

Did you turn off DX12?

Playing at 1600x 900 resolution. Turned off origin in game and still same. On win7 playing on dx11. I never turned off 2 x msaa coz game looks super ugly if off. But will try turning it off to try tonite.

Bf4 is installed on wd black hdd. Could this coz the problem ? Can ssd stop this fps drop ? Or my processor cannot handle bf4 ? Is there a way to see if processor cannot handle bf4 ?

There is a few posibilities.

1. Your hdd may be bottleneck it.
2. Your gpu drivers may be the cause of instability
3. Game not optimize

try back 1080p but off msaa lor. Maybe game optimise for win10 only? Psu how old?

Erm... it's BF4, it goes full speed @ max settings with a 1060

FPS drops to 10-20fps is usually due to HDD access. Try a defrag.

I have been playing BF4 since the beginning without any problem

Uninstall Nvidia Experience

Turn off live tiles in windows start menu

Disable auto windows update

run game from ssd

create a user.cfg settings in BF4 folder, google how to do it.

lower your gfx settings to high or medium

disable origin in-game

disable all windows scheduled task

I also uninstalled old nvidia drivers and did clean install of latest nvidia drivers from nvidia's website. Still have FPS drop in game. Ran at my monitor native resolution of 1600x900. Is my processor bottlenecking my graphics card ?

Your processor should be fine.

You can try running BF4 off an SSD. If that works fine, you have a dying HDD.

Your cpu could be throttling due to high temp
Check cpu temp during gameplay
