Frank follows Jon, a young man with a strong interest in music, as he joins an eccentric band called "Soronprfbs" led by the title character Frank.[4][5] The film begins with would-be musician Jon invited to join the band right before a concert, only asked if he is able to play a few chords. Joining the band, they move to Ireland to record an album, where Jon begins posting videos on the internet of the band's rehearsal sessions.[6][7] During the film, Twitter posts made by Jon appear on the screen.

Did this film ever show in Singapore ?

Watched the entire film on Cathay.

It does live up to the 92% rating on RT (as much as I distrust RT, they get it right this time).

The music sounds like an amalgamation of Captain Beefheart + Lou Reed + Pink Floyd + Frank Zappa and is weirdly good (something you might hear on BBC Radio 6's Freak Zone or Dr. Demento's Radio Show).

Fassbender's facial expressions are hidden in a fibreglass head for most of the film (when his performance is described as a "master class" even with that severe handicap, you know you're seeing something special).

The trailer does give you the impression that this film is humorous and quirky yet turned out to be rather dark.

And if one were to sum up the story in one sentence ? "The story of a band who couldn't handle the fame they never had".
