Freaking sian on a Sunday... PC cannot boot up

Hi guys,

For the past week, I noticed that my PC intermittently cannot boot up; can see the fans spin and light up for awhile before power gets cut off. Didn't pay much attention to it as usually just need to press the power button on the casing a few times and it will boot up normally.

Today, no matter what i tried, cannot boot up at all. Spent the the whole Sunday morning and noon reading up and troubleshooting but no success. I'll share what I did here and hopefully some of u can advise if I missed out anything.

Here's my build:
Mobo: Asrock B75 Pro3M
CPU: Intel i5 3570
PSU: Andyson F650
GFX: Palit GTX 660ti
RAM: 2 x 4GB G Skill DDR3-PC1333
SSD: Intel 530 240GB
HDD: WD Black 1TB
Casing: CM690 1

What I did:
1. Unplugged everything except GFX, 1 stick of RAM, CPU & fan, PSU, monitor and mobo. Tried booting up but failed.
2. Tried paperclip test with PSU, fan is spinning.
3. Tried shorting the power pins on the mobo, cannot boot up.

Can I conclude it's the mobo?

switched to onboard gfx, no difference

unplug power cable from the back, press power button on your casing for 5~10 secs. plug back power cable and try to on it.

if you pc does not load past post

try reset ur cmos

it could be corrupted because of so many improper shut down.

i have face this problem a few time before. 2 time because of cpu fan and 1 time because of cmos.

my pc just cannot boot because my therma paste have dry up and the temperature on the cpu is insanely high. pc just shut down to protect it as it fail the post.

when you are free try to resit your rig by reconnect all the part and also clean your computer interior.

if somehow your pc can boot up you can try download hwinfo or speedfan to check the temperature of your computer

normally this type of thing is to do with either your psu or you computer temperature.

I resetted my CMOS too... Forgot to mention it but thanks for the advice. The CPU and mobo was installed slightly more than a year. Not too sure if thermal paste will dry in such a short period.

Otherwise, will just send the mobo in for checks and If it turns out fine, will pick up a psu along the way. Any modular ones to recommend?

Just wondering what could I hv done when the issue first appeared... if I managed to boot up after multiple attempts, any tests I could do to determine which component is gonna die?
