Freqent Hanging on Games

Basically 2 month old RMAed P8P67 (RMAed once but got new mobo) died while gaming halfway. No respond from PC and after testing, confirm mobo died. Sent in for RMA.

Got myself a ASrock z77 Extreme 4. Windows in ssd is screwed. Formated, reinstalled windows.

Updated GPU drivers to 13.3

However, there has been frequent hanging while playing d3. Fight halfway game just hang and suspend there and had to force reboot.

Anyone with issues on 13.3 or powercolor myst?

Prior to changing of mobo and reinstalling windows, no hanging.

GPU fan i already enable faster and also it is within heat control as monitered on hwmoniter.

What could be wrong?

Hi, could be faulty RAM. I notice you're running 4 pieces. Maybe you could run Memtest or Cold boot with 1 piece at a time? Hope it helped

Hmm the best way to know which part is wrong is to use a known working rig and stress test each component.

Reason been is that all the parts seems to be working, prior to this, motherboard bios updated?

Memtest had been done on dual channel 4 pcs and had 2 full passes. What i would like to know is, even if memtest passes, could there still be anything wrong with rams that can cause hanging? Can a not so clean contact of a ram still allow memtest to pass but cause hanging?

On this pc,

Memtest 2 full passes done on 4 rams on dual channel.

Heaven benchmark 4 on extreme mode done on gpu for about 50mins, did not see any artifacts nor anything unusual, smooth smooth, fan sound also not as loud as gaming. temp went to 80plus on test .

however on gaming in d3, sometimes the single fan would spin really loud, my case is on the floor on my right and its so loud, but hwmoniter temps at most 70plus it seems, low is at 40plus. The loudness would go soft and loud and the hanging can happen even when fan is not loud and suddenly in game.

any proc fault possibility? or 2nd hdd motor issue or something? both seems to work fine

But do consider a faulty motherboard or a bad driver if all the parts seems to be fine.

It's the same Asrock board that's been use.

A bad ram caused a bad processor which in turn damage every motherboard it touches.

mobo is brand new deh. memtest just after setup. couldnt be faulty rams at all since went 2 full passes.

Hmm this is tricky, eliminate the possible and what remains is the probable.
Gonna need a working rig to test i guess. Sorry about that mate, it's gonna be a long shot.

All else fail, then driver comparabilityliao

Ok like what m3 said

Eliminate all possible reasons

Go back to stock clockspeeds if overclock
Open PC CASE and blow fan in that direction ( this sounds silly, but this helps isolate heat issues
Play with 2 sticks ram only. and change sticks
change gfx card ( Loan one and just play it to isolate gfx card fault.
use only 1 hard drive / ssd

It's the xeon causing the hanging, apparently became faulty due to the p8p67 that died, and after switching to z77 extreme4, proc started causing all the hanging and finally died on me yesterday.

now in search of new proc for mobo, anyone has one? keke

This is interesting, a damaged CPU!

But not the 1st time this has happened on the LGA1155 platform, apparently... just google for more info.

Yes, of all components, i would least expect a binned xeon made to handle all hardcore stuff, to be somehow i think short circuit by the p8p67 board. We realised it when another proc which was used to plug into the p8p67 was plug on it to test and now that proc also keeps hanging and need rma too.

My friend said, last time all the E dc c2d, quad Q processors are so much more lasting, since the i series processors seem to die much easier.
