Fried Hokkien mee thread

Ate years back .... father was the cook .. yah ..quite nice .. the wet version .... son was taking orders .. wah this one long2 wait man during peak hour! Haven't been back ..... who ate recently .. nice or not?

I have eaten many times cooked by the old man, never wet version leh.
I like Ah Hock largely because his is the dry version which I feel is more difficult to cook a good plate.

lol. Just recently i sat with my friend eating his tabao Simon road hkm, wow it smelled nice and got Hei.. I went to eat Ytd. Tmd waste my calorie again. I wonder what’s wrong.

Ytd I tried herng hkm at tpy. Not bad, got wokhei. But broth can be a bit richer.

Finally tried Sg Umami hkm. Again. Got hei but lacking a bit of richness in sauce. Not one that I’ll eat everytime.

guess it’s time to take a long hiatus on my hunt. Hopefully the standard will go up in time to come.

tt time pass by golden mile after hoot reel than go there have hkm before leaving than hoot 1 small plate try wah finish everything within 8 mouth

sg nowadays like not much nice hkm even those famous like chuan also find normal only the only 1 tt is good is when the lor 29 hkm still at upper east coast road there n was fried by the father but after the father pass away the hkm cook by the son also cmi

the 1 cook by his son in law at lagoon food center last i ate still quite decent got 70% is fil power but tt was few yrs back le

yes Pakcik's favourite was the Lor 29 at East Coast many many years ago. Cos can't afford the Al Forno funghi pizza next to the kopitiam.

taugey is a no go. Tau gey leaches the flavour from the broth for some reason. More koochye would be better.

Have not manage to try 618 HKM cos it is far away from my house.
I am also curious about the carrot cake.

Pakcik ranks the carrot cake better than the TPY michelin one. More generous and lagi sedap.

yes, very far for Pakcik, so it's a treat. if you do go, the wait is 40mins. Order the $5, it's huge portion, then take home half for tea. they will help you pack. the sambal is very good. Is the 618 hokkien mee normal? read so much about it, haven't tried it yet, cos no budget after the carrot cake.

Just had HKM few days ago at Geylang Lor 27 coffeeshop, open led till 3-4am. Above AVG but the hidden gem was the fried carrot cake! Very crispy and soft Kueh and fragrant!
The coffeeshop is 24hours ,used to be Hoe Kee bao location

So Hoe Kee Bao got replaced by this. Ever ate Dim Sum there before, horrible food.
