Hey guys,
I'm spending one night in Hakone, and will go to Kawaguchiko the next morning. What would be the best way to get there?
I've just begun my research online, and it seems that the only way to go is to take a Tozan bus to the Gotemba Premium Outlets, then another bus to Kawaguchiko.

It's not that I mind spending some time browsing the shops at Gotemba, but is there a more direct way?

And what are the options to travel to Tokyo/Asakusa from Kawaguchiko? I'm in no rush to get to Tokyo, so I don't mind a long and relaxing bus or train ride.

U can consider getting the Fuji-Hakone pass. It covers all public transport costs in Hakone and Kawaguchiko. Also, it includes a one-way transport from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko via bus and Shunjuku to Odawara via train. Odawara to hakone-yumoto may be payable, need to check.

For Hakone to Kawaguchiko, there is a bus from Togendai to Gotemba to Kawaguchiko.

For Kawaguchiko to Shinjuku, can take the Fujikyuko bus.

Im going the opposite direction as you though, start from kawaguchiko then to hakone then back to tokyo.

Thank you!
I'm actually thinking if I really should get the Hakone Free Pass (Klook is selling it for $69) as I'm not going anywhere much. Just want to walk around the town itself and nuah. Not really fuss with the cable car or cruise rides. Likewise at Kawaguchiko, I'd just go to those places within walking distance. But, I do want to visit the Little Prince Museum (haha).

Get the Fuji Hakone Pass as it covers all your transportation costs. A big part of Hakone is Owakudani and its black eggs. Pirate cruise is so so but you can get to explore the other side of the lake like Hakone Shrine.

From Togendai to Gotemba, you will pass by Little Prince Museum. Just get your google maps ready to know when to alight.

Really ditto on the Fuji Hakone pass. I did the other way round. Went to Kawaguchiko from shinjuku by bus, stayed Kawaguchiko 1 night and left for Hakone via bus. Stayed in Hakone 1 night. Train back to Shinjuku. Saved quite a bit of money!

I didn’t bring my luggage along with me, just my necessities for 2 nights (I stayed in ryokan so Pajamas and everything else provided). I sent my luggage early in the morning prior to bus trip to Kawaguchiko at 7-11 for Taqbin service. Sent to my next accommodation at Tokyo.

Thanks for the tips. I'd be storing my bulky luggage in Asakusa, and travel light for the 3D2N trip to Hakone/Kawaguchiko.

OK.. shall get the Hakone Free Pass.. shall not nuah too much and get my butt moving to see the sights!

I will be leaving my big luggages at hotel since i will be checking in on same hotel after 2 nights later.

Also, i rented a car at kawaguchiko coz i find it more convenient to travel around. The bus timings aint that great and i dun wish to spend time waiting for it. I rented a toyota vitz or similar for $110sgd for 1 day for 3 ppl. Quite worth it.
