I'm going Fukuoka in July. Is my itinerary ok? As I'm not staying overnight at Beppu (visit hell spring only), should I shift some of my day 6 "visiting sites" to day 4?

Day 1
Arrive at fukuoka airport ard 12.40pm.
Whole day at canal city

Day 2 & 3
concert

Day 4
Beppu

Day 5
See Gion Yamakasa, starts at 4.59am. Does anyone knows how long it last?
kushida temple
Kawabatadori shopping street
hakata machiya folk museum
Tochoji temple
Jotenji temple
Hakata port tower

Day 6
Ohori park + Maizuru park + castle + Japanese garden + art museum
Tenjin underground city
Nakasu

Day 7
fukuoka city disaster prevention centre + fukuoka city museum + robosquare + momochi seaside
yahoo dome + hawks town

Day 8
Bye bye fukuoka, hello SG.

Personally, I think you should spend a bit more time in Beppu than visiting all those sights in Fukuoka. While the sights you have listed for Fukuoka are quite interesting, I think Beppu and neighbouring Yufuin offers more interesting sights in comparison. After all, you have decided to go all the way to Beppu, so why not spend a bit more time there?

I want to visit Huis Ten Bosch, Yufurin and many others places situated south of hakata but for now I want to focus on hakata and tenjin area. I hv read Samantha's trip. Her focus was not entirely on fukuoka. Jumping from one place to another, require to do lots of "homework" and money.

Abt Beppu, I always see forumers writing abt it. Since there's nothing much to cover in fukuoka, so why not take a trip down.

♣♣Question: Is it possible to cover Yufuin and Beppu in one day and go back to hakata later at night?
I know u guys will tell me to stay for 1 day either at Beppu or Yufuin but like I mentioned, need money. As u can see, I'm in fukuoka mainly it's bcos of concert. So I will be cashing my money buying merchandises and other stuffs, which I know some of u may think I'm an idol idiot :s22:, wasting my $$ when I can do much more better with it.

You can do Yufuin + Beppu in 1 day and then back to Fukuoka to stay for the night. Just that the train between Hakata station (in Fukuoka) to Yufuin and Beppu is not that frequent, so you need to check the train timings beforehand when planning your trip.

JR Kyushu Northern Area pass is actually not that expensive. You just need to get the cheapest version (3 day version) and you can take Ltd Exp trains with that railpass to go Yufuin, Beppu, Nagasaki.

If you want to visit Huis Ten Bosch, you can make it a 1 day visit too...just that the admission price for Huis Ten Bosch is a tad expensive though.

Thanks :) Initially I wanted to go to Huis Ten Bosch instead of Beppu. But looking at all the theme parks, I don't think one day is enough to cover all.

Yufuin, tho quaint, is not that much especially if u dun like hot spring. At night, the place is quite dead, the only shops open are the beer houses, convenience stores, supermarket, pacinko, some eateries like ramen joints. So I guess, night time is mostly dedicated to soaking in the hotsprings.

The buildings there are kinda cute tho. Lake Kinrinko is probably the only main attraction, and maybe Mount Yufu, if u like hiking. Day trip is possible, but imo it will be a waste if u dun intend to use their hotspring.

Check the timings of the trains tho, direct trains to and fro Hakata and Yufuin are limited in numbers per day.

Hakata also do not have that much, but do check out the ramen stadium in canal city.

If u like ramen, do eat their ramen everyday! Cannot get any better than eating Hakata Ramen in Hakata itself.

Can consider Dazaifu, for their temples and gardens. But the place is more beautiful during the Sakura and Autumn seasons

Don't forget to check out the Yatais (push cart food stalls). I enjoyed having a late night ramen in one of the stalls in Fukuoka.

I don't seem to recall many other prefectures having these yatais

Seems like you are focusing most days in Fukuoka

Ever consider Kumamoto to see Castle and Kagoshima to see Sakurajima
Nagasaki also got many stuff to see like Gunkanjima, Peace Park

Recently i went to Kyushu in my Spring Trip
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/e...iew]-japan-spring-2014-solo-trip-4667062.html

U can take a look~

Yatai, yes I will try, hopefully. Bcos I read some comments tat most of the stall owners r quite rude, especially if u dun know the language. Food is expensive and not really tat delicious.

Yes, focusing on fukuoka only as mainly bcos of concert. Dun wan to tire myself out as I hope still hv time to study at night. I shouldn't hv go during tat period but hv no choice since I can only make it for tat week to see their concert. Reason, right after I fly back to sg, I'll be taking my Jap test on the following day

Yeah Yatai is mostly for experience rather than the food or the cost

The food not that great and quite expensive for me

Hello, need to dig out this thread to get some opinions .. I will be traveling alone, in sep to fukuoka..

Arriving on sep 26 AM , departing on 1st oct.. Do you guys suggest staying in fukuoka then travel out daily ? Or change hotels everyday?

Am thinking of getting the 3 day or 5 day north kyushuu pass to go Kumamoto, yufuin/beppu..

But the thought of changing hotels everyday is quite tiring.. And yufuin ryokans are so exp... (Traveling alone, no one to share cost...)

Any recommendations ?

oneway
fukuoka to kumamoto bout 40min
fukuoka to beppu bout 1.5-2h

if you're willing to leave early you can just travel out daily.

Depends on where u want to visit,

But you got limited days so u need to plan careful.

Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Nagasaki can be done as day trip.

If Onsen, u can consider Beppu and stay overnight. I travelled alone for onsen in Beppu, the prices are cheaper than those in Yufuin~ :s13:

I will be basing in fukuoka then catch early jr/Shinkansen out to Nagasaki Kagoshima etc and return sometime in evening.
Hopefully got sufficient time but as I need to attend concert, might not have time to explore much of fukuoka with all the day trips.

First time going alone but one month after u.. hope I will not be too lost and appreciate if u can share ur experience with me:)

i think it depends on ur itinerary at each place. if it is more of a touch-and-go at the main attractions, i guess day trips are ok. if u wanna explore more, then it is better to stay over. for example, if u are going to visit mount inasa in nagasaki for the night view, it is going to be very rush to get back to fukuoka

that said, since u have only 5 days, it is better to stick to 1 or 2 hotels coz any more than that u will be spending too much time changing hotels
