does trading really work?before i discovered poker and tried to play poker for a living(with some limited success) i dabbled in stocks trading for a little while about a year....but no matter how much i tried to study and read up on forums, nothing ever seems to make any sense, worse still on the trading forum that i frequented,it seems like everyone had a million different ideas how technical trading analysis should work, and everyone had like their own cult and system and gurus that they supported, and they worse part is they seem to spend all their energy bashing each other and flaming each other and mocking each other and arguing and fighting, but nobody could ever come up with conclusive evidence that their "system" or "philosophy" works with enough success rate for the followers or students.....in fact its sometimes dubious whether the "gurus" or inventors of the trading system themselves are successful traders.....it seems like 90% of the information passed around in technical analysis are either mumbo jumbo or hogwash or misinformation or just complete delusional ********......
of course this is the complete opposite case in poker......theres hundreds of books written on poker theory and possibly tens of thousands of videos,an a online community of hundreds of thousands of poker players(the grinders who take the game seriously)we can more or less agree that 90% of the info correlate with each other and the fundamental strategy and theory for beating poker at the lower and intermediate levels are more or less the same and irrefutable like laws of physics, and laws in mathematics....in poker u study the theory and fundamentals vigorously,u apply the reasoning to the decisions u make in poker, and over time u see a positive outcome provided u make less mistakes than ur opponents, just like in any other game chess or backgammon or starcraft.....
but the problem is poker, chess and starcraft are played against human opponents, and humans have weaknesses, tendencies and logical patterns that can be studied analyse and exploited over time......but how can u beat the stock market?how the **** does trading works?how can u possibly beat the system or understand

In this industry, you are playing with not just 1 grandmaster, but all of them. To beat them, you must be a grandmaster yourself.

A year is not enough to understand the market, let alone beat it. You need at least 5 years.
The fact it took 5 years, tells you how complex the market is. There are millions of players, thousands of opinion and uncountable amount of strategies. In this industry, you are playing with not just 1 grandmaster, but all of them. To beat them, you must be a grandmaster yourself.
In poker, you play with a limited no. of people. There's a limited ways to cards going to turn out and strategies are limited. All you have to do, is the be the most experienced amount the lot and your chance of winning is high.
yes that may be true but,but in stocks, even the so called "grandmasters" might not be able to beat the market...why? because like u said there are millions of participants, which means theres also millions of morons contributing to the madness, the tsunami of activity.....its like fighting against ocean currents or trying to surf a tsunami, you can only go wherever it wants u to go,and more often then not u end up becoming one of the millions of pieces of wreckage of houses, boats, cars and debri dragged in the tsunami of garbage.
