Very slow and takes up space on the ground. A lot of sensors are needed.

Hang the robot from the top. Install a web of grids above all the tables. The robot can move along the grids quickly. Can help to chase pigeons also.
Finally i can agree with you on 1 thing.

Likely this is another waste money white elephant project.

Wow, they are really profligate in their spending. Have they ever done a feasibility study to see if this will work in Singapore's hawker settings?

Do they expect the crowd to stand aside and form a straight line and hormat it with their trays on hands when it march past from table to table to clean them, especially during peak crowds?

Little wonder need to increase GST to support these types of white elephant projects that 好看不好吃。

The only way such cleaning robots will be feasible is when they create overhanging conveyor belts to let it move to the desired table to
wipe everytime a table is cleared.

🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦💩💩💩💩

This doesn't make sense at all.....

Rather create self cleaning tables instead.

Watching the video, now I know why productivity fails. Take 1 table. How many are they going to deploy in 1 hawker center? And the video is done using all the best case when the hawker center is empty. Trying putting in a real world environment with people around queuing and we'll see how much more the productivity drops.

And are the 2 wiping towels even rinsed at all? Imagine wiping a coffee spill, then using the same towel with coffee spill to "coat" another table with coffee. At least the physical cleaners will rinse the towel first before wiping next table.

There's a guy in the background setting up the robot. Don't seem to be fully automated and needs someone to keep monitoring it.

All in all a failure. The physical cleaners are better trusted to do the job.

Look the number of cronies surrounding this very primitive robot, like it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Funny AF.

This robot is damn useless, can't clean the cloth, and it doesn't look like it can stretched its arms past the middle of the table to clear bones and food left there.

Hehe instead of producing something in the factory, these robot arms are used for wayang. Such a waste.

In this condition, maintenance will kill the poor robot arm

Cost of population hike. Every little thing have to be fast and calculative. They cannot control your makan time, they control plate collection time so next batch of fella can finish quickly.

Aunty cleaner job 1 min now become 5 min.

I think it's possible for a robot to clean a table in milliseconds, but then all the zhup and plates will fly every where. Hahah

This kind is like those school fyp, will nv be used irl.

Even if used irl, it will only be used for a short period of time thereafter change back to human cleaners.

Robots should do other hawker jobs like dish washing, clean, mop and dry the floor, transport the full return tray to the washing bay, change faulty light blubs, clean the fan blades, etc

Singapore govt projects have the unique approach of using automation to decrease productivity
