Hi guys currently using a FD R5 casing with h100i gtx as exhaust on top and 2 intake fans,1 rear exhaust and 1 bottom intake. All 4 fans are FD Gp14. On avg all are spinning at 920rpm. Temp is going into low 80s. Also bottom intake fan is on the first slot, nerest to front intake as my psu is blocking the middle slot. Am i better off removing it? Will the bottom fan "neutralise" the front intake? Can i know if i change to Noctua 140mm pwm fans. Will i see any major improvement on the temp? Like at least 5 degreees?

The best answer is to experiment with removing the fan and see if u get better results. I don't think it gets in the way.

Also noctuas are good but i doubt it will improve gpu temps by 5 degrees.

U can always try putting a standing fan beside yr gpu, leaving the case open. If it doesn't reduce the temps by 5 degrees, neither will the noctuas.

Normally the bottom fans will only help the bottom gpu at most. Not the top.

In SLI or Xfire, usually even if proper placement gap in between, the top card will usually take the heat that is coming from the bottom of the card. And for that it is usually much higher.

The only way is to have a fan directly placed very near to the sides of the cards.

But it wont affect temps drastically. Just minimal noticeable.

Thanks for all the feedback. Mine in windowed and so side fan is out of the way. But there is a mesh near the pcie slot. Mayb able to squeeze 2 40mm fans. Is this advisable? Intake or exhaust?

Haha. Just as i thought. Guess either i take a gamble with the noctua fans or go full water loop.
Heat seems to be trapped at 1 corner of the casing near the back where the vrams are. Tried mem at stock but heat seems to be the same. Can feel the side window is hot when touching that spot.

I think adding intake fans won't help airflow, no matter where you add it. U shld be focusing on exhaust fans that pull hot air out of the casing instead of intake fans that try to cramp as my cool air inside but let down by the heat buildup in the casing.

And secondly, dual GTX 980Ti cards will run hot and low 80 degrees is still considered acceptable, considering that ur cards are not blower-style fans that exhaust hot air directly out of the casing. No matter how much u try to generate good airflow, the hot air that the Gigabyte cards exhaust back into the casing will eventually heat up the internal casing air temps and also the cards themselves. U trying to remedy by improving airflow only determines if this heating takes place within 5 mins or after 1 hour. If u want the temps to go down further, consider watercooling the cards, especially when there are 2 cards in the system.

Is either you go for custom water cooling to dump the heat at the radiator, or probably find a way to mount the fan nearer to the GPU.

Adding fans or open case doesn't help much with temps since both cards are in close proximity. The hot air thrown out by the bottom card will just get taken in by the top card's fan.

Either go water cooling or reduce your temp limit if you're worried your top card runs too hot but reducing temp limit will also limit your cards performance.
