Will the G3258 bottleneck the Asus GTX970 Strix?

Whats SLI for and do I need it for ultra settings Skyrim and Assassin's Creed(all games)

Is there any mini ITX mobo & case that supports SLI 2x GTX970?

All games yes it will bottleneck even at high oc.

Not unless you are playing games that arent cpu intensive such as diablo 3 and any games from blizzard

For multi graphics card setup. Full HD no.
Lol no ALL mITX board only have 1 expansion slot to begin with. You need at least 4 slots for minimum of 2 graphics cards on a mATX board for SLI (only Z series board offer SLI)

Sli is to have dual graphics of the same model gpu (for nvidia) to run as a pair. Usually you will need a sli capable mobo to do that, and a bigger psu tohandle both cards.

Xfire is for Amd cards. Amd cards are not necessary to have both the same card. BUT requires both to be the same architecture. You cant take a hawaii card add to a tahiti based cards. Not all mobo can support Xfire at x8x8. Only selected z77/z87/z97 can support x8x8. Usually SLI capable boards are able to do that

There is no ITX board that will support 2 gpu. Its a standard to have only 1 gpu slot. Minimum you will need is a mATX board that has z77/z87/z97 chipset with SLI capable and dual slot pcie for gpu.

As for cpu. You wont wanna go pentium nor i3 for a dual gpu solution. You will be bottlenecked by it.

Skyrim should run fine. AC: Unity most probably cannot unless ubisoft has optimized it somehow

Even 970 sli cannot hit 60 fps.

Do note that the benchmarks were done 2 months ago and ubisoft may have made the game easier to run

In the case of an overclock i5 the performance increase is not significant as CPU intensive games usually means that it requires more cores to process the game and not faster speed to process iirc

i have tried various graphic cards with my ex-g3258 @ 4.3GHZ, ranging from GTX650 to 7950.

imho the optimal gpu to run alongside the g3258 is the r7 260x. CS:GO was stuck at around the 130fps range no matter what gpu i used. Perfmon showed CPU at a constant 80 - 100 percent usage while the 7950 showed around 40 - 50 percent usuage. (bottleneck).

hmmm for that price tag of approximately 100 sgd that card is worth it.
