Just played with the Smart Dock
Way more impressed than the AllShare cast hub when it comes to video playback. Just feel that the sound and video quality is higher, well wires still the best.
The USB ports are wicked. Plugged anything in like WD 3TB MyBook, 2TB Passport, 64GB Sandisk cruzer, USB card reader for SD works wonder! I believe writing only limits to FAT/FAT32 format drives, otherwise reading is almost universal. And all 3 ports can be populated with drives simultaneously! Unfortunately it does not support OSX Extended Journal drive
Moving on to Wireless KB/Mouse support, no issue with Microsoft Combo 3000.
Tried connecting my camera and well well works too!
When I connect my Tab 7.7 to the dock, my phone recognises it and pops into gallery immediately, but nothing really happens after that, either in MTP or PTP mode
Lastly as to the rotation, videos will self rotate even in youtube, but for browsers, perhaps ultimate rotation app from playstore is put to good use here.
Summary
Good
- Recognises many USB devices
- Can act as a charging dock
- USB "Hub", can connect devices to it for charging as well, good for office use

- Video and sound output is good via HDMI
- Solid quality
- Usable even with Verus flip case on my Note II, will be even better for slimmer S4 with thicker casing
- Only slightly thicker than the Note II battery charging dock
Not so Good
- When no power is connected, USB/Sound output does not work, duh
- Wish there was some kind of LED indicating that power is ON
- Samsung should have included an APP for auto rotation
