My Surface Pro and Note 10.1's S Pen works with it leh. Did you turn on the S Pen power-saving option? If you did, it turns off S Pen detection if it detects that the S Pen is holstered. Even if you bring another S Pen to the Note 3 then, it won't detect it. You have to remove the S Pen for it to start detecting again, or turn off that option (turning it on saves power).
