There is a oleophoic coating and it is suppose to be scratch resistance. Function is same as glass tr by spigen but not the price.

Fingerprint is easy to wipe off due to the coating.

Dropped my Note 3 protected with genuine S-Cover at the height of 1.2 metre to hard ceramic floor. The edges of S Cover take a beating but the phone relatively good and there is very minor dent on a corner. The dent can't even been seen due to reflective silver colour of bezel.

Sharing this to say that I didn't expect S-Cover did very well. Comparing with Note 2 flip cover, Note 3 S-Cover has protruding edges instead of curved. This proved to be a good design.

Would keen to know if the other alu bumper would protect the same as well? I don't like the S-Cover due to its extra weight but S-Cover feature is great.

Actually not really sure on this. My friends have been using magnetic latch pouch since Note 1, note 2 and now note 3. They have used the S pen quite extensively and never hear them complain about the malfunction issue. Personally I use the similar pouch for my note 10.1 for about a year and also no issue for the S pen.

agreed, my note 2 the right centre where the magnet is the sensitivity is pretty bad, esp when scribble there, the writing is missing at that region.

If you search the threads here and on xda, you will see complains of magnets creating dead zones on the Note screen.
I can't explain why you are not affected, but I've seen the phenomenon and unless the Note 3 and the Note 10.1 uses a different touchscreen, I'll stand by my belief that a magnetic case is not an good idea for a Note.
