The S4 Google edition was supposed to be available on the play store today, but I don't see it yet. Has the launch date changed?

Announced about 3hr plus or so I think. Available for sale in the US only. S4 at USD649 while the HTC One at USD599.

Should not be compatible. Waiting for the firmware to be out and see if can be flash into local S4. Most likely there's a way..

Thought the US variant is also the same hardware structure as our SG i9505? Always thought that the only different is the radio band, other than that should be exactly the same.

Waiting to see the official rom leak on xda-developers.
For those whom does want any of the samsung apps or functions, this will be a good choice.

I read somewhere that the software updates for the Google edition phones will be coming from the Manufacturers themselves and NOT Google.

The steep price and the fact that must still depend on Samsung for updates is kind of a let down for me. Might as well get the regular version on contract and get all the cool extras.

Still beats wwaiting for manufacturer to skin the OS + telco to approve the update. Cuts down on a lot of time actually.

There no real need to buy the Google Edition S4. The internal hardware are the same as the international S4. Just head over to xda forums and find a GE rom and flash it.
