Canada PSN store
Pros:
+ Many games are cheaper. They are sold at the same numeric value as US, but different currency. For example, USD 10 (~SGD 13.5) game sold at CAD 10 (~SGD 11). This can be seen on older games as well as newly released ones; it can be seen in indie games as well as AAA titles. So best case scenario, Canada is cheaper; normal scenario, around the same price after currency conversion.
+ Basically the same contents as US store, same PS+ free game offerings, same sales. (I have only seen 1 or 2 titles on US store that are not released on Canada store. An example is the Taiwan indie "Detention", no idea why, cos there's nothing to censor.)
+ PCGameSupply sometimes have flash sale on US PSN cards, selling USD 10 card at 30% discount, making it like USD 10 card at SGD 10. There are 20% and 10% too. These sales are limited duration, just a few hours, often during our bed time, and you can only buy 1 card each time.
Cons:
- Obviously you need to buy Canada PSN cards to top-up your Canada account's wallet (just like buying US PSN cards to top-up US account wallet). However we only know of 1 site that sells the Canada PSN card with instant digital delivery, without mark up (ie. CAD 20 card sold at CAD 20, not higher). And that site is PCGameSupply (iirc it's based in Canada). It's a legit and reliable site, but having a single source can be a concern. There are other options, like OffGamers which sells it digitally too but it's at a mark up (about 10% more than face value of card). Amazon Canada only sells the physical card (not sure about now, havent checked for a long time). If you are going for US or Canada PS+, obviously you are interested in getting digital games (monthly free games and the many sales), so this can be an important risk factor to consider.
- The Canada PSN cards come in minimum CAD 20, which is higher than the USD 10 in US.
You will have to draw your own conclusion whether it's worth the risk, cos once you start PS+ with a country/region, it's hard to stop as you will lose the free games you accumulated.
