Gaming PC and nas server as one?

I am planning to build a nas and while researching about unraid it seems to be able to run windows as a virtual machine as well

Has anyone done something like this?

Should be possible.

I ran windows with a GPU under proxmox (KVM)

Since unraid uses KVM, I assume the install process for windows will be similar i.e install ballooning drivers, virtio network drivers etc.

Nvidia geforce GPUs will not work by default if it knows its host is a VM and there is a workaround.

would said depends on what games and which parts u getting. cos if u play AAA with weak gpu on VM, will be pretty much unplayable.

Is your NAS going to be used heavily when you're gaming? Make sure the games you're playing and the files you're storing are on different dedicated drives.

Also, if you're going to play multiplayer, make sure no one is transferring files or access the NAS too much else your normal gigabit network card is not going to be enough especially when people are transferring at the max HDD speeds (~100MB/s) (you can go for 10Gbps or the likes of it).

You can definitely do 2 in 1 no problem.

Windows and storage spaces may be a viable option
