Hi all, going to upgrade my PC after using for the past 5-6 years, I'm still using 1st Gen Ryzen and system is getting unstable.
1 stick of RAM has failed as well.
Been awhile since I've upgraded or build PC system and it's getting confusing.
Did a bit of reading, now it's between R5-5600x or Intel i5-12600k right? Which is advisable?
I play Dota 2 on 1440p 144hz on 27" monitor, graphic card is GTX 3060/3060 Ti sufficient or just go 3070Ti?

My current specs:
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 1600X Six-Core
Mainboard Gigabyte GA-B350-Gaming 3
Graphics Card ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Memory GSkill 16GB RGB (1 stick faulty, now left 8GB)
Storage Drive SAMSUNG EVO 850 250GB + WD 250GB SSD + 1TB WD BLUE

Appreciate all the help and advice! Thank you! Btw any shop to recommend to build PC, thank you!

Just on Dota 2, 3060 is enough. Even a 3050 is enough but the pricing isn't that great locally. Else you can look at 6650XT. Dota is not a graphic intensive game. How much do you set aside for your card? S$5XX-6XX is 3060, S$6XX-7XX is 3060Ti and above S1K is 3070Ti.

You will have to go for your best option of i5-12600k cpu and 3070ti gpu to play well at 1440p / 144hz unless
your budget is not enough or dota 2 or similar gamrs is what you play. PC care and solution, 1 rochor canal road, sim lim square #02-32, hp 9048 7338
to build your pc.

Hi thanks for your replies, but the more I read the more confusing, so now between intel and amd, which is the better buy? I saw if i go for i5-12600k, I need to go for Z690? Can I go for B660 instead as it's cheaper and can use DDR4, or is the AMD 5600x still the better one to go for? Pricing wise, both seems similar. Any other futher advice?

Local AMD CPU and AM4 motherboard is way overpriced, MSI B550 Tomahawk + 5600G is $638 at FW pricelist; the same mobo+CPU is S$257+S252 = ~$510. You could ship the motherboard to Taiwan for less than half the price difference, if you need to RMA within 3 years. Also Amazon SG will allow 15 days return if you want for whatever reason, no worry for DOA item.

if u go b660 buy the 12400 or go straight to 12700. 12600 should go z690 due to overclocking potential......

If you want to build a new system, definitely go intel at the moment.

I saw if i go for i5-12600k, I need to go for Z690? Can I go for B660 instead as it's cheaper and can use DDR4, or is the AMD 5600x still the better one to go for? Pricing wise, both seems similar. Any other futher advice?

12600k provides decent headroom if you want to venture into AAA titles that are CPU heavy. 12400F can be pretty stressed in a few of the CPU-demanding titles.

If you are not overclocking, there is no need to get a Z series board. The stock performance is already justified to buy regardless of OC-ing. There are currently no other 10c20t in the lineup as an option anyway.

You can buy 12700, but that doesn't make any difference for gaming alone.

Get a 5600 with B550 and a RTX3060 and you are good to go.

5600G ($252) + Gigabyte Aorus Elite motherboard ($215) = S$467
5600 ($286) + Gigabyte Aorus Elite motherboard ($215) = S$501
Above from Amazon SG. Memory you can RMA ur faulty stick and use back or buy new one.
Graphic card RTX3060 is S$6XX and RTX3060Ti us 7XX. See which one you prefer. Both enable you to play dota 2 at 1440p easily.
