Hi all,

Looking recommendation for upgrade, my case is as follow:
-currently is on Phenom II X4 (not overclocked), MB is Biostar TA790X-128
-P/S is seasonic s2-m620
-just jump on R9-290 bandwagon
-games: BF4, Titanfall, upcoming Star Citizen ( can base on crysis 3 i think)
-resolution: 1440p
-I prefer higher fps to higher detail (i dont mind to game on medium detail)

Now i'm looking to upgrade, since i think i come to assumption that my cpu and ram is bottelnecking the games.

Budget wise of course I am looking the most performance gain to dollar, but if i have to set a maximum budget would be around 500$. (The lower the better)

Here's few option things that i think of:

Option 1 : buy proper cooler and OC the current Phenom II
- Probably cheapest option.
- If it isn't up to the mark, cooler can be re-used for further upgrade
- Cons is current memory is different brand different speed, i think would affect the oc result
- current power supply is decent i guess.

Option 2 : upgrade to 3750k and OC it
- need to find in the market for components
- need to buy proper cooler
- need to buy mobo+ram

Option 3 : upgrade to 4460 non OC
- is it better performance compare to 3750K OC ?
- need to buy mobo+ram
- does not need higher end mobo
- might not need to upgrade the cooler

Option X : (any input please)

I'm leaning towards 4460, but any input, advise and maybe links to article and benchmarks is very much appreciated!

Thank you very much.

option 3. If your psu and hdd are more than 3 years old. Consider changing them as you will need to reformat your hdd anyways due to new mobo and processor.

Then at least your hdd/psu won't die halfway

I think I type wrongly its m12ii-620. Two year old I think, problem is unlike hdd we wouldnt know how long it will last. Hdd at least got symptoms and sometime the smart tool can detect.
Anyway i've jumped the gun and got 4460, time to do some testing

the psu part make my day.
Wait till u see my casing. Its a 10$ second hand ghetto centurion cm5, with diy-just-whack cable management hole, and extra diy holes for extra airflow. Its the best bang for bucks of all my components
