CPU & Mobo:
Ram:
GPU:

Already owned
ODD: LG DVD RW
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
PSU: CM550W GX 80plus
Casing: NZXT Tempest
OS: Windows 8

Basically im setting about 1000bucks budget for the above items. i will be re using the below items i already owned. If the budget can be cheaper, even better!

1) Do I really need a SSD?
2) Should i change the casing? or PSU?

Would recommend that you change the GX 550 as it is a pretty crappy psu.
Anyway,
1. Not really required since a SSD is for it's loading speed and lower power consumption (for laptops).
2. Change out the psu to a better one like the Thermaltake smart 530W (I know it's a unverified unit but it's a lower end CWT DSA unit afaik.. Which was decent or a Fsp Raider 550W.
For the parts I would recommend:
I5 3470 + Asrock B75 Pro3M - $348
4GBX2 - ~ $80
Powercolor/Sapphire HD7850 2GB - $240/$263
Thermaltake Smart SE 530W/Raider 550W - $70/$83
Total: $738 (PC 7850 + TT 530W)..
You do the maths.
Prices from: myneXTcom Pte Ltd Singapore

I think you should change your PSU , 550 watts is just nice only, you should have some headroom

I think you should get a R7950 from Powercolor/Sapphire as well as a new PSU from Seasonic maybe 620W.

If not, you will have to increase your budget slightly to $1100.

Simply put, it is not wattage, it is the brand and model. I only recommend some PSUs models from: Seasonic (S12II platform, G & X series), Corsair (not their older CX models), FSP (as cheaper alt. to Seasonic), Kingwin, Superflower, Antec. These are generally the brands with models that I trust. For other models, I check Jonnyguru, HardOCP and Hardware Secrets for reviews, or OCN/AT forums for individual's experiences.
