Hey there. I need some advice on building a 1080p gaming rig with about 1.5k budget, maybe max 2k.

I don't need keyboard, mouse, monitor. I need some advise for the parts, and where to get them (amazon or local). First time building so a bit blur :o

Case: Fractal Design Define S
Cheaper option that I like, if not for my budget, would have gone with the Phanteks Evolv tempered glass

CPU + Mobo: i5 6600k + Asus Maximus VIII Ranger
i7 more satki but worth the extra ~200?

Cooler: CM 212 Evo
Should I change out the fan for a Noctua NF-F12? Or Should I go corsair h100i for oc?

Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB)
Cheaper option on Amazon compared to local so I guess buy from amazon?

GPU: Rx 480 (?)
Pricing is a big question, but hopefully AiB ~400sgd?

PSU: Corsair RMi 650 (A bit overkill?)
I guess there are cheaper options for the lower wattage psu, since I don't think I'll cf 2 480. But overall, I like modular PSUs.

HDD: WD 2 TB Blue
Already have 850 Evo and SSD370 so just need a HDD :s13:

OS: Need a Win 10

Thanks guys. :)

212evo is cannotmakeit if you want to overclock

I bought the phanteks tc14pe dual 140mm tower cooler from amazon , changed the fans to higher rpm and used the original fans as casing intake
6600k 4.67ghz max temp @ 72 d celcius on x264 tool .... i7 is about 10 celcius more

I guess means need invest in AiO.

Rough calculations brings me to 1.15K without gpu.
Thanks for reminding me about the ram clearance, forgot that vengeance ram don't fit with some air coolers.

Can consider noctua d15 from amazon. I personally trust air cooler more then aio and d15 is one of the best in the market. Anyway the cheapest aio is around the same price as the d15. Of course you gotta consider the ram clearance

AIO is not better

the 240mm ones are on par with these 140mm dual tower with upgraded higher rpm fans

noctua d14
phanteks tc14pe
noctua d15s

they perform 2-3 celcius worse than AIO 240mm because they have low speed fan (under 1500rpm) or only 1 fan (d15s)
after upgrade the fan , the gap is gone and the air coolers can be quieter because less fin density

yup, AIO's limit is the pump lifespan while air cooler cannot die , only need to change fan

but these 1kg heavy air cooler need to be more careful no jump / knocks / car go over hump ... it can snap from the motherboard

threadstarter can consider get cheap motherboard , cheap 212evo from amazon , use the savings to get 6700k but don't overclock
the base clock 4ghz is plenty

212 evo can o/c, just that cannot get the Max oc for your chip.

I currently running mine at 4.5ghz. Managed to o/c to 4.7ghz with temp about 75 to 80 deg. Tuned down as I scared the lifespan will be affected. Max I getting 70deg @ 4.5ghz

All i5 6600k can reach 4.4ghz minimally.

Using 212 evo push pull btw

Spend more on GPU and stable(very subjective) ISP for best online exp for gaming rig since most games now need online.....

The rest just use the cheapest will do:vijayadmin:

AIO is not better
noctua d14
phanteks tc14pe
noctua d15s

So now it's either between reliable high end air coolers or neater AiOs.

I guess it comes down to size and reliability? Since the air coolers are rather massive.:s22:
