Hi guys! My friend would like to build a gaming rig with a budget of 1.3k to play games like Dota 2, Payday 2, Crysis 3 and maybe games like Watch Dogs.

He also require a monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers. Help is much appreciated. Thanks! :):)

Unless otherwise stated, buy at PC Themes, #04-15, and ask for discounts. DIY yourself. If you can't into DIY, go to PC Care & Solution at #02-32 and ask Nigel to help you assemble for a fee.

Notes:

1) This rig will be able to play Crysis 3 smoothly only at High without AA or SMAA activated.

2) Try asking your friend to increase your budget by $200-300 for a more suitable rig for his games or explore the possibility of reusing old parts from his old rig to reduce costs.

For monitor, at $219, he can consider Dell S2340L, which is IPS instead of TN panel used for AOC.

No budget sia, cannot give good 1080p monitor. Is there a significant difference in image quality between TN and IPS panels? (I am personally using a monitor with a TN panel.)

IPS colour quality is much better than TN for sure, along with its viewing angle.

That AOC monitor is at $219. Dell S2340L also can $219 and below.. Roy can get at $198. But, i think can get at $209.

Sorry for bringing up and old thread guys..

I would also be purchasing the rest of my components I need for my rig with a max budget of $1500. As soon as next week. I already have myself a graphics card (Sapphire R9 290 Tri X), monitor(2440L) and a mechanical keyboard.

After doing some research and reference to what you guys have given to HWZ newbies like myself, I have came out with these for the rest of my build.

Mobo: MSI B85 G43 Gaming + i5 4460 ~ $397 (Is an upgrade to the i5 4590 worth it?)
Ram: G Skill Ripjaws-X 1600Mhz 2x4GB ~ $118
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB ~ $72
SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB ~ $162
PSU: Superflower Leadex 650W 80+ Gold F.M ~ $139
OS: Windows 8 Home Premium 64bit ~ $138
Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 ~ $139
ODD: Samsung 24x ODD ~ $25

Total: $ 1190 (All from PC Theme's list)

The only problem I have is selecting a wireless card.. Can anybody help me with this? Mine is the 802.11n and max 270mbps. Thank you :)

1) If you consider the extra 1-2 FPS to be worth the extra $20, then get the i5 4590.

2) Can consider the TP-Link WN881ND (45) or the Asus PCE-N15 (53) from Infinity Computer.

are you planning to buy from PC Themes?

you may want to compare against other shops' prices, especially Tradepac.

I'll be going to Tradepac first.. If everything goes well, I'll get my components there. But if being there pisses me off then I'll not hesitate to get my components at PC Themes.. Hahaha.

Go TP find the botak Indian. Tell him your components list and ask for best price. He will ask you payment mode then you bargain from there. If you getting full set can discount more. I always buy from him. Very hassle free just that sometimes their components may be in the storeroom then need some time to get it for you.
