Gaming SSD?

Value for $ SSD

With the amount of SSDs available in the market, I am spoilt for choice.
I will be buying from amazon, and have come up with a list below.. please recommend me!

Sandisk Extreme II 240GB
Corsair Neutrox GTX 240GB
Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme 256GB
*added crucial m500 240gb
*was told to add samsung 840 evo
*was told to add intel 530


I am leaning towards buying Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme because of the benchmarks from tomshardware

1. No such thing as gaming SSD.. SSD is just SSD.

2. Getting plextor from online is roughly same price as getting locally. So, if i were you, i would get it locally for warranty.

3. If getting frm amazon, nvr include crucial m500 240gb? it went to $139.99 before, and got chance for it to happen again. The 1st two you mentioned isnt worth it.

4. Dun rely too much on benchmarks.

Changing from harddisk to ssd usually only affects loading speed.

meaning that you probably won't get better fps...etc

it comes with a migration software and Samsung Magician. The Magician is a good software and I am not sure whether the benchmark and options ar true.

TLC NAND.. forget it... great reading speed, slow writing speed.

get MLC better. balanced among all 3.

want a fast SSD, yet want to choose among the cheapest. would rather buy off any Intel 530 240GB SSD from any of the HWZ/VRZ members here who buy during the $149USD period. Now most ppl letting go at $210-$220 while this Samsung TLC selling at $289.

Intel = 5yrs international warranty (hassle free, call --> courier collect --> courier sent back to you)

Samsung = 3yrs carry-in warranty. (bring in --> leave SC --> wait for distri fone call --> head down again --> leave SC again)

its a no brainer answer. if u r a Samsuck fan. by all means.

The drive may be good, but I don't recommend TLC based SSD as well. To be honest, the cost savings for consumers between a good MLC and TLC based SSD is too small. For games, I do recommend something that can endure more writes since games usually requires a lot of space, so once may tend to install and uninstall after playing.

Performance wise, end users should not be able to tell the difference between all the good SSDs. Only time you will see the dif is when you run a benchmark, which only serves to shorten the lifespan of the SSD.

Totally agree... think less and get it... More over I prefer MLC...
