Quote: In late July 2024, I wrote privately to Mr Ng and to Ms K. Thanaletchimi, President of NTUC, to express my concerns. I also posted extensively on social media to highlight the risks and implications. Despite these efforts, Mr Ng did not respond to my representations, nor did he publicly engage as scrutiny grew following the parliamentary debates of 6 August 2024.
NCM cannot plead ignorance

Low Wu Yang Andre 刘宇扬's FB Post:

Another great day in Fernvale and Jalan Kayu.

Many residents have asked about the municipal impact if I were to be elected in #JalanKayuSMC.

If that does come to fruition, the WP team here will ensure a smooth transition to join Sengkang Town Council, with support from the party's experience in Aljunied-Hougang Town Council.

In the MND's governance report last year, Sengkang Town Council received top scores with a green banding in: Estate Cleanliness, Estate Maintenance, Lift Performance, and S&CC Arrears Management.

But we will also continue projects that have been already funded. And we will evaluate new upgrades if needed, as well as do our best to support projects pushed by the community.

Like we do in other Town Councils, we will work with government agencies to address resident requests and complaints in the neighbourhood.

In short, I believe strongly that your neighbourhood will be in good hands.

Letter to Voters of Jalan Kayu

Proposed Sale of Income Insurance to Allianz in 2024 and Mr Ng Chee Meng’s Accountability

I have written this Letter to the Voters of Jalan Kayu SMC (see attached document), where Mr Ng Chee Meng is seeking election as a Member of Parliament. It concerns Mr Ng’s leadership role in the aborted sale of Income Insurance to Allianz in 2024.

Mr Ng made a very public endorsement of the proposed sale on 5 August 2024, the day before the first parliamentary debate. Between 6 August and 14 October — when the deal was stopped in Parliament — he did not offer any clarification, even as public concerns mounted. Ultimately, the deal collapsed following widespread public outcry and urgent intervention by the Government.

As many of you know, I was a protagonist in the public debate over this issue, which was close to my heart. In late July 2024, I wrote privately to Mr Ng and to Ms K.

Between August and October 2024, as national concern deepened, he remained silent on the key issues surrounding governance, mission, and accountability.

As Secretary-General of NTUC and a member of the NTUC Enterprise Board that approved the deal, Mr Ng bears leadership responsibility for what transpired.

Now that he seeks the trust and mandate of Jalan Kayu residents, it is fair — and necessary — for citizens to ask him to account for his role and decisions.

We live in a troubled world. Citizens must speak up on matters that affect our collective future, especially when decisions are taken in our name. These are not acts of division; they are acts of care for our country and for the institutions we rely upon.

For a young democracy like Singapore, such open engagement is vital to our nation’s future and resilience. To be able to speak up freely is a privilege. To speak up when one feels it matters is a citizen’s responsibility.

It is in this spirit that I write this open letter to the voters of Jalan Kayu.

I quote myself here. The opportunity has presented itself, as I hope it would. If anyone from WP is reading this, I am sure you know what to do next.

Now that the wrong type of limelight is on the opponent, it's time for the alternative to shine.

I hope that there's a counter to this. While I can accept that the intentions are good, there's certainly poor due diligence, which makes for the case of having a robust check and balance.

As Andre puts it “The situation was so serious we had to pass emergency legislation to block the deal, a deal that the NTUC publicly endorsed just two months before that",

Andre added that "“Because without proper checks and balances, without proper oversight, without people willing to challenge those in power, these kinds of decisions can be done behind closed doors".

So it's NOT just about NCM wanting Income to do well to help more people.

only non military people can be Minister of Defence. Just like only non medically trained people can be Minister for Health. MIW logic.

going by that logic, most suitable candidate should be Janil since he has never had to wear #4 before

I believe he actually served in the volunteer corp before, so you are wrong

This WP speech power sia. Any rebuttal so far?

Union work is not easy, he added, and rank-and-file unionists push hard for better workers’ rights because of their passion for workers.

"I thank them for that,” he said. “So, Singapore, let us help the PAP candidates in Jalan Kayu and Tampines Changkat, who are the top leaders in the NTUC, to be full-time NTUC union leaders.”

This, he said, would save them from spending time in Parliament and managing town councils.

“We need to give the PAP candidates more time for their NTUC work, so they can come up with new ideas, or maybe even implement WP ideas,” he added.

So in that sense, Victor is damn lucky to score a win before he retires from politics. This will be the biggest gift from the party.

NCM will receive his gift eventually.
maybe NCM have a lots of baggage , like income saga.
Put him in AMK, later make amk grc or get less than ideal result

Warmly welcomed by residents at Parc Botannia this morning, which was very encouraging.

During the visit, we discussed how I will factor in the special needs community into my advocacy. I said that while I have certain policy strengths, I am open to feedback to plug knowledge gaps.

I also talked to residents about issues with cleanliness (The Rat Problem) and highlighted that as a hands-on personality, I will be close to the Town Council on estate issues, tapping on the WP's experience in SKTC and AHTC.

On morning congestion with the LRT, TeamSengkang has been active in engaging with LTA, although I think we can do much more policy-wise with the WP's proposals on school start times.

FYI: I'll be around Fernvale LRT later this afternoon. If you're around, say hi!

I would like to express my gratitude to the MCST for facilitating the Workers' Party's engagement with our condo community. I've heard that there are some residents who have been sharing information with the PAP. As a result, another session has been scheduled for the PAP representatives to meet with residents on May Day.
