Incumbent MPs Louis Ng, Carrie Tan and Derrick Goh announced today that they will be stepping down from Nee Soon GRC, a day after the PAP unveiled a fresh team there for GE2025.

Mr Ng, 46, is a two-term MP, while Ms Tan, 38, and Mr Goh, 57, have served for one term.

The PAP’s slate for Nee Soon GRC will include anchor minister K. Shanmugam and four new faces – Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi, Mr Jackson Lam, Ms Lee Hui Ying and Ms Goh Hanyan.

actually i really happy sham did the change cos my estate a bunch of us dun like our MP... :(
Let me guess…. Under the lady mp? Mine under Derrick and frankly speaking, he did a great job considering he is 1st term mp.

Quite sad that he decided not to contest but I don’t blame him as he’s just promoted to COO for DBS and will be more busy than ever.

Why Louis Ng have to leave can be summed up in this Lee Bee Wah vs Gan Kim Yong exchange in Parliament.

I dun think he stepped down out of his own wishes. He just did 2 terms nia, to be forced out is quite insulting to him.
Yea and if imagine he worked wholeheartedly… he asked or made to go cos he wasn’t in their plan he feel sad : natural

Serious question, what is his reason for the step down?

I don’t believe he resign on his own accord, but is forced to resign.

Maybe he asked too many questions and Pappy doesn’t want their people to ask questions as this will create more transparency, and they dun want the transparency to be created or else their rice bowls will be gone.

Also, his asking of too many questions may encourage other candidates (pappy or not) to question the higher ups, sth LMW is doing. It is good to question the unknown and the unclear. But sad that our politics doesn’t encourage transparency, and has no open communications. Question too much, ask to leave.

For example, we don’t even know our population number. Data not clear enough.

can see he was forced to go out.. probably he wasn’t seen as a loyalist to voucher Wong since he asked too much question during last parliament
