Too difficult to change policy. Just have to patch work.
I think more worrying is the type of people they seem to be choosing, and the lead they take from the top.
All their hot mic incidents (lousy school, illiterate, F****** populist), TCJ using his hot mic on CLH and LHL revealing he knew about it for years, ppl throw file in Parliament, sleep on TV in Parliament, regular and frequent absences from Parliament, speaks to their arrogance. Then you got TSL trying to be all witty quoting a line in Cantonese from a movie which is the same as saying LMW is illiterate or too dense to understand his wisdom, and getting away with it. But they can immediately gang up and descend like vultures to take the moral high ground in instances like this:
When was the last time any of them truly spoke up for their constituents out of sincere concern and not optics?
They often extol themselves to be the paragon of virtue, truth, and impartiality, but their actions more often than not run counter to that.
To me, their moral authority to lead died with Ong Teng Cheong, the one President who truly understood his responsibility and deserved better from his own party.
The truth is, no right-minded Singaporean wants the PAP to fail. All we want is for them to do the job they are paid to, which is to look out for the interests of all Singaporeans. In return, we get GST helps the poor, we get condescension, we get performative TSL theatre, we get told we can pack up and GTFO if we are unhappy, the list goes on.
Ahgong was right to say this is not a game of cards, it is your life and mine. However, it seems to have become a game with the PAP of today, with the cheat code being 'Brother Sister Majulah Majulah PAP PAP', to get to play again for 5 years.
Don't just keep telling Singaporeans to give you their votes PAP. Earn them. You can start by attending Parliament regularly and staying awake when you are there.
