Any party propose any policy which needs money, but not state where money come from, is just writing sure- to -be -bounced cheques.
2
Any new or amended policy only funded by :
A, cutting other expenditure, like SDP 2010 GE proposes cutting 40 % defense budget to support their new health policy.

B raise revenue, like GST ,income tax etc
C. Dip into trillion dollar reserve.

PSP propose Exempt basic essentials from GST.

1 talk is cheap, when you implement, what are the overall pro and con?
How can we define essential ? cement ? floor tiles? dress ? school bags?
cheese?

2
say a slice of cake, range from few dollars to 20 ? shall we exempt $3 dollars or below per 100 grams cake ?
The admin cost of define essential goods just add cost to shop and supermarket owners.

(2) Exempt basic essentials from GST

In 2022, we called on the Government to exempt basic essential goods from GST, and we repeat this call today. Such essential goods should include water, rice, eggs, cooking oil, wheat flour, and formula milk. We propose setting price thresholds on basic essentials that are exempted from GST. For example, rice that sells for under $2 per kg can be exempted from GST, while rice that sells for above $2 per kg will not be exempted from GST. This will reduce the likelihood of the wealthy taking advantage of and benefiting from GST exemptions, because the wealthy are less likely to purchase the cheapest versions of essential items.

SINGAPORE: The Progress Singapore Party (PSP) said on Saturday (Apr 19) that it will field veteran technologist Harish Pillay, 65, in Bukit Gombak SMC for the upcoming General Election.

Mr Pillay previously contested in Tanjong Pagar GRC under the PSP banner in the 2020 election. He is also a former member of the party's central executive committee.

He holds a master’s degree in computer science and electrical and computer engineering from Oregon State University and was an early contributor to ARPAnet, the precursor to today's Internet, according to the party's press release.

In 1993, Mr Pillay co-founded the Singapore Linux Users’ Group. He also played a key role in establishing Red Hat’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region, growing its Singapore office from a one-man operation to over 450 employees over two decades.

“Singapore was once a shining diamond on how countries can develop, but this bright spot has dulled over the last few years due to a lack of bold visioning of competing ideas," he said in the release.

"To make Singapore shine bright for the next 60 years and beyond, we have to reignite the imagination of Singaporeans to innovate and excel by aiming for visionary goals, like reducing the percentage of people who face economic challenges to under 1 per cent, and ensuring that our seniors live out their retirement in dignity and honour."

Mr PIllay also pledged to serve as a full-time MP if elected.

He will likely go up against the People’s Action Party’s (PAP) Low Yen Ling, who is Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry as well as Culture, Community and Youth. Ms Low was part of the PAP team that contested and won Chua Chu Kang GRC in the 2020 election.

Bukit Gombak SMC, which has 26,364 registered voters, comprises Bukit Gombak and Hillview estates that were carved out from Chua Chu Kang GRC in the latest electoral boundaries review.

In January, PSP said its members were harassed while distributing flyers to residents of Goodview Gardens in Bukit Gombak. The party claimed that the individuals involved were PAP volunteers.

In response, Ms Low said in a Facebook post that PSP had "twisted the truth" and given an "untrue picture" of what happened. She also alleged that a male PAP volunteer was slapped twice during the altercation. The matter was subsequently referred to the police.

Wendy Low a bit wasted to be in CCK.
TCB, HP, LMW, Wendy( or Lawrence) + 1 Malay/Indian candidate for West Coast will be nice.

As I have mentioned in another thread, this is seriously flawed. PSP will get wiped out completely in this GE.

PSP has a number of high quality star candidates like Hazel, Leong and Lawrence Pek who will stand a better chance against weaker opponents in SMCs like Bukit Gombak, Pioneer and Queenstown.

It is nearly impossible for them to win in West Coast-Jurong and CCK GRCs. In fact, they will stand a better chance in Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC.

No opposition party has ever won a GRC before winning a SMC. WP started in one SMC and stayed there for 20 years before venturing into a GRC. PSP must first win a SMC and shows Singaporeans it can run a Town Council well before venturing into a GRC.

Adopt LTK's tactic of running a SMC well before contesting in an adjacent GRC which has been proven to work. Don't waste time putting your best candidates in a GRC knowing you will never be able to win! How many more 5 years do you have to experiment?

Really wasted. They will stand a better chance 1 v 1 in Bukit Gombak, Queenstown, Jurong Central and Pioneer SMCs. Singaporean voters are conservative. They will not vote for an inexperienced team to run their TCs in a GRC.
