MAHABOOB BAATSHA​

Mr Mahaboob Baatsha, 57, will make his electoral debut by running in Queenstown SMC. He is the treasurer of the Reform Party (RP), one of the three constituent parties in the PAR. The other two are Peoples Voice (PV) and the Democratic Progressive Party.

Mr Baatsha is a director in an oil and gas firm who has lived in Queenstown for more than 30 years.

He spoke about the rental flats in the neighbourhood, saying that "a lot of people can't move to the next stage from the rental blocks" and that he hoped to help them find jobs if elected.

Mr Baatsha added that he has been walking in the area and distributing food to rental block residents, and is "very familiar" with Queenstown SMC.

Good guy but joined the wrong party. PAR’s impression among voters is quite bad.

Worst experienceS !!
My estate is now under Queenstown SMC, jlb pap mp is Eric Chua, we are paying Premium S&CC when it rains frequently here, i.e Huge wastage of our precious electricity n water for self irrigation !!

I also dont understand y need estate manager

Sent emails to my jlb pap mp Eric Chua n mps on other matters since end Feb w few reminders, also no reply

Queenstown Pap mp Eric Chua said that b4 residents moved in to the BTO, he had already asked abt the shelter from the MRT to our estate.

3+yrs later, still dont hv it.

On 21 Mar 2025, I had to email to Chee Hong Tat n escalated to President n Pmo to request LTA to expedite the shelter n LTA started to build it abt 1+ weeks ago only n received LTA email on 17 Apr 2025.

“I wanted to find out who is the opposition,” exclaimed a resident. “It’s me, it’s me, it’s me,” said PAR candidate for the constituency, Mr Mahaboob Batcha.

“Just now we were talking whether the opposition strong or not,” said another resident. “Of course strong, I’m from the Reform Party,” he replied.

I was in the new Queenstown SMC with PAR candidate Mr Mahaboob, who has been knocking on doors at rental flats this afternoon.

Queenstown covers several public rental blocks at Lengkok Bahru, Stirling Road and Meiling Street.

I heard a resident talk to Mr Mahaboob about her challenges in working towards owning her own home.

“Singaporean people like that,” she told him when discussing housing prices and mimicked being choked.

Mr Mahaboob told me he’s talked to many residents who have been living in rental flats for more than a decade. He was concerned that many of them don’t have jobs or get by on odd jobs and gig work.

“We have to give more voices on this for young couples,” he told me, adding that housing prices leave them “trapped in debt” right after marriage.

At Lengkok Bahru, he told a father of three, whose youngest child was wearing diapers, about PAR’s proposals for free meals, education and healthcare for every Singaporean child.

The PAR is an alliance comprising the Democratic Progressive Party, Peoples Voice and the Reform Party.

Mr Mahaboob faces the PAP’s Eric Chua in a straight fight in this constituency.
