Young and old turn up at Bukit Gombak Stadium to soak in Polling Night atmosphere
Human resources executive Chua Xing Yi was among the early supporters who arrived at Bukit Gombak Stadium on Polling Night with her husband Sim Ling Fong, who works in the IT sector.
Their 11-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter also joined them.
“We wanted to bring our children to see what the elections are about, because they will be voters in the future,” said Ms Chua, who is in her late 30s.
“There are lots of issues in the world, and we hope that the new Government can steer us ahead for the next five years,” she said.
Retiree Ho See Eng, 70, also turned up at the stadium with her son Thomas Koh, 31. Madam Ho has been a resident at Saujana Road for 37 years.
“I’m here to support my idol, Mr Liang Eng Hwa, who is running in Bukit Panjang SMC,” she said, adding that he has done a lot for her constituency, such as the recent Home Improvement Programme.
Mr Koh added: “My family benefitted from the recent Bukit Panjang $1 deal, which we could use to exchange for eggs, vegetable packs and meals. Singapore is also very clean and efficient, and we should not take this for granted.”
