Define talent. Does it mean being one of top in the army knows how to serve the citizens well?

Do you mean that in other countries when ministers or president are not highly paid mean they are not talented or smart?

lastly, do you prefer someone who governs because they want to primarily get the high pay to justify or because they want to serve with their heart and the pay comes secondary?

If the top position does not come with money, why would people bother to join the service to climb?
Those that are parachuted into those position are the few, not the majority - and also the above applies, if the top position of being a general gives no future prospect after retirement, why would our scholars bother joining in the first place if it's an apparent career suicide.

Lastly, what I'd want and prefer, is a genuine and honest human who admits that they are there for the money and the passion (heart) to serve. Similar to professions like doctors - who would want to be a doctor and slog for years with high tuition fees and risk of malpractice, and not want the money?

Let's be real, intelligence commands money. I am more afraid of stupidity and incompetence at the top than a competent and arrogant one - if one can do the right thing, always, at global and national level, they have the right to be arrogant and I'm willing to part with my money for that level of decision-making and foresight.

And yes, I dare say that the state of the other countries would be a lot stronger had they employed the same pay strategy. Doing otherwise is plain stupidity - it's a simple talent strategy that is also employed at organisations worldwide, no?

"Between a popular government and a competent government, I would choose a competent government.". Sounds familiar?

And thus far, our oppositions are not showing much in terms of short, mid and long-term vision. They want to topple the top? Show more, do more - not do the same amount of work and expect a turnaround.

Singapore Democratic Party chief Chee Soon Juan outlined what he plans to do for residents of Sembawang West SMC, saying: "I will not outsource the running of your town council to a third-party, profit-making company."
