tbh just hard see Baey Yam Keng losing. Isn’t he like mr popular over there
George Yeo was more popular than BYK and held higher political office roles. Eventually, he got voted out despite his popularity.

The rule of GRC and SMC is different. In a GRC, voters tend to evaluate group of candidates rather than a single individual. If Baey got voted out in Tampines GRC, he needs to thank PAP for introducing the GRC system. If he contests in a SMC, I believe he will win.

Professor Walid lives in Tampines GRC and BYK is his MP. You can refer to his views below:

The GRC system is a double-edged sword.

Quite challenging for him to carry 4 other persons, after CLH is no more and Desmond's area is split into a new SMC.

last time pap wins grc with one star candidate...
now this works against them because one unpopular candidate can also bring down one grc.

Baey is good on the ground because he is a political failure holding a lightweight role in government thus he has alot of free time because his ministry doesn't need him

Just like those employees who do not perform in their job but attend all those useless HR initiatives and heads them, they will seem very visible but they are useless in substance

The situation in Tampines GRC today is similar to Aljunied GRC 14 years ago.

GE2011 [Aljunied GRC]
Popular MP: George Yeo
Unpopular MP: Cynthia Phua/Lim Hwee Hua
Newbie: Ong Ye Kung

GE2025 [Tampines GRC]
Popular MP: Baey Yam Keng
Unpopular MP: Masagos/Koh Poh Koon
Newbie: David Neo/Charlene Chen

Y not 51% MIW step down so u can see oppo do some action?

They will tell you if you take a plane ride, would you let a person with no flying experience to fly the plane?

But they won't tell you they've been flying the plane and have had numerous accidents. :s22:

if you need people to get things done.... then you need the person to be the Minister or MOS.
if not, their job scope is more or less similar to other PAP MPs who are not ministers or MOS.
