Geforce Now - Anyone tried?

Thinking of subscribing to Geforce Now, any one have reviews on it? Using myrepublic ISP, does it have any connectivity issues?

I am using GFN on my old laptop. So far, working perfectly fine at 1080p 60fps on Singtel 1Gbps BB. My latency is approx 5ms, and no lag at all. Give it a try.

i thought nvidia has free plan (1hr session) but available on starhub plan

starhub doesn't mention how long is extended session. nvidia mentioned UP TO 6hrs? means it can less than 6? quite confusing

I think the maximum per game session is 6hrs. Not per day or per month. So, no biggy, you rarely will hit 6hrs in one game session.

The free plan called basic plan offered by Nvidia US is only limited to 1hr per game session and is subjected to queuing. Meaning if you exceed 1hr, you will be kicked out and need to re-queue. Imagining half way thru your Dota 2 game and kena kicked out. Rather pay for premium tier. most people in US are starting to pay liao as sometimes they have to queue for a few hr to get a slot. no free lunch in this world.

did further reading & found my laptop gpu not supported (850m). also game i want to play on geforce now not available there

I found this video where there is a trial code TSLFREE1M to get you started. only for new sign up thou, so i cant try. Not sure if it works.

Not much requirements. can even run on browser. Im running its app on a potato dell optiplex 3020 small form factor with an additional gt 1030. Cpu is gen 2 i5, ram is 8gb. i think if u can watch youtube videos at 1080 with no problems. running gfn should not be an issue. But ethernet connection is a must. else got very noticable input/reaction lag.

now that they have the 1 day pass, can trial 1 day then decide. its good for single player games and mmo which do not need quick reaction/are not competitive.

Have been gaming on GFN premium pro plan for about 2 years now. No real issue for me. Can't tell difference between gaming on GFN and my desktop natively, as I'm no competitive player. Cheap compared to building & maintaining a gaming rig. No extra heat dumped into my tiny room. No hassle of having to install game, or move installs between drives.

CONS:
(1) Limited supported game titles though. Many games I'd like to play (like Tales of Arise, Scarlet Nexus, Final Fantasy, etc.) not supported.
(2) No 4K or 1440p plans
(3) 6 hours session time cap is bad for long session games. For example, I kept my Star Ocean 4 game session running for about 20 hours, coz the post-game dungeon has no save points, and needs to be cleared in one go.
(4) 80 hours time cap. I played 170 hours of Tales of Zestiria within a month.

just signed up trial. hoping to play some games on my MS Surface laptop but the network test shows my bandwidth is bad and with packet lost ! tried plug in cable into router same result.

I'm on M1 1GB, did speedtest.net no issue. just wrote to them hopefully got some special config somewhere to resolve it..

Probably some setting issue. 1GB broadband shouldn't have a problem. Have been using Premium Pro, it allows me to access games almost instantly. I don't play a lot but to kill off sometimes after work. so, 80hrs is more than enough.

but i don understand the hrs cap tho, thats quite unfriendly. and its not like GFN is so popular that they need to cap it. i thought they should be more interested in bringing more pple.

Yeah. Wasn't so restrictive when GFN first came to SG. Now, all kinds of conditions - https://www.gamehubplus.com/geforce-now/plans.
That said, their plans seems fine for non-hardcore gamers. Say, their "Premium Pro" plan seems fine for the working adult who plays 2-3 hours per night and 6 hours on weekends. Not so good for studying kids and retirees who have more time to game though.
Just a matter of finding the right option for your use case.
