Most REITs are green based on the SGX website, and most of them already past the XD. Good signs in the short and mid term I would say.

Anyone received the AACI REIT DRP for AIMS AMP Capital?
Can someone advise if receiving the "DRP Units" is cheaper as compared to buying them in the market?
And is DRP Units the same as normal stocks, ie, available for trading?

Hope I posted in the right thread. Not sure what you guys mean by S-REITs. I presume its REITs available for trading in SG?

Got cost savings. No need to pay for brokerage fees and GST if u do a DRIP. Yes, DRIP will be given to u as per normal shares. Take note most platforms don't allow odd lot (less than 1000 shares) buy/sell. But the purpose of doing DRIP is u want to hold long term to enjoy even more dividends (calculated based on total count of shares) in the future.

The last traded price is $1.455. But the effective price at which your DRP units are allocated depends on how many units you have, so please do the calculation.

The last quarter's distribution is 2.55 cents, and the DRP unit price is $1.4446. But there is a technicality in the calculation: the distribution is divided into two components of 2.42 cents and 0.13 cents, and the number of units allotted for each is rounded down to the nearest unit.

So for example if you have 10,000 units, your allocation works out as: 242/1.4446 + 13/1.4446 = 167 + 8* = 175 units, so your effective cost is $255/175 = $1.4571 per unit. Which is actually a bit higher than the traded price, but probably lower than buying it from the market because it doesn't have brokerage commissions.

* 13/1.4446 = 8.99903... gets rounded down to 8!

However, consider the case where you have 1,000 units. Your allocation is 16+0=16 units only, which means your effective unit price is $25.50/16 = $1.59375, which is a hefty 10% premium over either the traded price or the DRP price. People with 1 lot should not opt for DRP.

So you have to take the number of units you own and calculate how many units you will get. Plus consider the pros and cons. DRP allows you to reinvest your distribution in the business without brokerage commissions, if you don't really need the cash, but the flip side is that selling the odd units is more troublesome.

All of this based on the info in http://infopub.sgx.com/FileOpen/AAC...ouncement.ashx?App=Announcement&FileID=310024.
