Same here... Holding on to my MGCT at 90c. Unless there is a withdrawal of the Tax benefits, which will make it less appealing.

Stamp duty only comes in when REITs purchase properties. This isn't a common occurrence and will be a one-off for each property purchased.

As what others said it is one-off. Somemore it applies to local properties only

Nowadays, hardly see any local buying not to mention overall acquisition compared to the frenzy in 2010-2012.

I guess it greatly affect REITs whose mandate is restricted to pure local market. And I can only think of Far East HTrust only. And also those sponsors who likes to "dump" properties to their REITs vehicle bah.

A few people were concerned - or concern trolling - the tax breaks expiring on 31 Mar, so it is good that they have been extended. Won't convince the REIT bears though.

All in all I believe the government will continue supporting REITs because frankly they are one of the last few niches our stock market has to compete with others :)

you forget about fct, cmt and mct whose portfolio are based locally.

fct just purchased changi city point last year so should not have any new acquisitions coming up.
mct also add mapletree anson in early 2013.
cmt wise, they tend to build their own than purchase.

SGX nowadays very few IPOs already, they still need to attract foreign players to list their assets here as reits

Feel free to add to the list... I can only follow that much...

By the way, not such whether FCT is restricted to local properties only as described on their website "FCT’s principal activity is to invest in income-producing properties used primarily for retail purposes, in Singapore and overseas.". Perhaps, those who have invested can shed some light...
