What does that Cabin Point get?
Just the room? cover everything (exclude port fees ++)
I always want to go Cruise, but one pax need to pay full for 2-pax room, thats the main reasons I opt for Genting Highlands instead.
Cabin Points allow you to redeem rooms.
There are currently two cruise ships. Star Voyager (smaller, older, but nicer food imo), and Dream Cruise.
For my account, I can see up to January, 3-4months ahead.
For January booking, I can see better rooms. But it will use up more Cabin Points; up to 5 points.
Destination and Rooms doesn't reflect the amount of points to redeem.
Eg: For January, Balcony Deluxe or Interior Room will cost me 4 Cabin Points for 3nights to Phuket.
It will also cost me 4 Cabin points for the least favorable, 2nights to Malacca.
Say for current month of September, most cabins will be taken up. But there's where you see 1 cabin points destination available. Rooms can varies between the lowest tier available to highest depending on card holder account.
Say for next month, October. You will see rooms available for between 2 cabin points to 3 cabin points.
As for port charges and gratuities. It is charge by per person. Port Charges is standard. Gratuities is depending on the room you choose. Higher room, slightly higher charges per night.
Port charge for Malacca is Sgd62 per person.
If you are redeeming rooms with cabin points, ideally you won't be sharing rooms. Because port charges and gratuities are charged per person. Even if you travel alone. You will be just paying one.
Certain members are able to offset their port charges and gratuities by using cabin points, 1 cabin points offset S$100, eg $288 port charges required 3cabin points.
I have not figured out how this works, but it is likely for those last minute 1 cabin point cruise that some members or tour agency released within one week before sail date.
