I also wish she would stick to her phone but gals being gals.. you know.. :s22:

Bro, trust me, after a while, girls always use mobile for photo/selfie for the convenience of it. Think of other gifts ba . If die die want camera then take a look at Casio ZR55. Got nice bright colour for girls plus got an additional shutter button in front for easy selfie. a5000 girls don't really like although it's the better camera.

Remember this. If she don't like the outlook, she won't use it even if it's a 10,000 dollar camera unless she is camera fanatic. But since need selfie, I am assuming she is not one.

Hahaha! Bro, you feel me! :s13: But still she kinda want to get a camera soon for travel usage also. So no choice.

ZR55?? I shall go take a look then
Ytd I went to shop, the Uncles recommend me ZR 5000 vs WX 500 Sony.. she like the 5000 cause of the wide angle and 500 cause of the thinner and lightweight.. :(

if she has iphone 7s or the latest samsung, buying point and shoot isnt an upgrade.

ZR 5000 sensor is very small for the price you pay. try rx100. even the first gen produce good images.

after nice photos, next thing is that she wants to record video, but handheld is too shaky. nect birthday present should be a gimbal.

I recommended ZR55 because cheaper and 10x zoom. Good all rounder. I usually focus on things I wanna take. Wide angle good for scenery which I don't do so much. RX series a bit too over price for my liking.

Oh, and iPhone 7s not out yet. I suppose he meant iPhone 7 plus.

Thank you guys for the recommendation...

But I took her to the shop last eeekend she kinda like the Casio ZR 5000 model.. I did ask her about the a5000 but kinda too complicated for her.. she just want something she can take Wide photo with and video..

Yes I know handphone got that capability to do that I also thinking should I invest this money for camera to wait till the iphone 8 come out then get her?

> wide angle
> selfie? photo? video?
> lightweight
> compact and convenient
buy phone lor, can't go wrong with the newest one

But that aside, if she really wants a physical camera and the choice comes down to between the ZR55 / ZR5000 / WX500, the ZR5000 would be my pick. I personally wouldn't buy the ZR55, just seems kind of, mm, toy-ish and cheaply built? The WX500 has a smaller sensor and a zoom so long one would probably rarely make full use of so I'd skip that one too. The ZR5000 seems the most balanced. It's field of view is quite a bit wider than the ZR55 or even most phones, and seems more solidly built (at least from the pictures) than the ZR55.

if you want handphone with wide angle capability, must as well get V20 or wait for Note8 or other brands that has dual lens....

I recommend ZR55 due to budget constraints as well. Many of the recommendations here seem to ignore that point.
