I believe it depends on the mouse and game you play.I'm considering getting a basic mouse pad as i only game with gamepad so don't require mousepad for gamers.
It is necessary and serve good purpose ?

If only rpg game play not necessary to get mouse pad as there is not much mouse movement required it's better use gamepad.
Yes.
I am also a controller gamer with my xbox/ps controller.
I use 2x 2mm thickness mouse pad.
Mainly for padding and comfort for my wrist.
I'm using a 4mm 40cmx90cm mouse pad putting on top of a old 4mm 40cmx90cm mouse pad , super comfy and great for my wrist.
Same! im using double layered mousepad, both 4mm , 40 x 90cm and its really comfortable overall and also basically i do not wan to roll the spare mousepad and chunk it in the store for nothing![]()
Just got a mousepad for myself. From logitect ($19). Satisfy.I feel whether you need a mousepad or not, really depends on you. If you are not using a glass table top, chances is that the mouse will work even on the hard surface. However mousepads as some have mentioned, provides some level of cushioning for your wrist. It may also help those competitive gamers.
