I believe it depends on the mouse and game you play.

If only rpg game play not necessary to get mouse pad as there is not much mouse movement required it's better use gamepad.

Yes.
I am also a controller gamer with my xbox/ps controller.

I use 2x 2mm thickness mouse pad.
Mainly for padding and comfort for my wrist.

I feel whether you need a mousepad or not, really depends on you. If you are not using a glass table top, chances is that the mouse will work even on the hard surface. However mousepads as some have mentioned, provides some level of cushioning for your wrist. It may also help those competitive gamers.

Just got a mousepad for myself. From logitect ($19). Satisfy.

All mousepads r overpriced. Pick your poison accordingly.

Glorious Element mouse pad 50-65% off now on Glorious website. The local distros probably don't follow the discount.

I see xtremesolution still selling @ $59, markup until jskm.

Mousepad provides more consistency than using a table, not really about the cushioning IMO. Even a hard mousepad is viable.

If you are playing competitively and want to be in the top percentile, it's probably good to have a proper mousepad. Even an expired gamer like myself is able to reach diamond in valorant by casually playing. FPS game is not my strength.

If you want to shoot ducks in COD, then anything will do.
