I was wondering if it will be a better and wiser choice to get a laptop online (manufacturer website) instead of from a store?

What are the reputations of these shops:
mc2
pc themes
pc dreams
tradepac
@notebook
newstead

I heard some of them quite smelly, sell you 2nd hand laptop. Heard that PC Dreams not bad? Tradepac I heard is can be quite smelly if you are newbie...???

If not, buy from Challenger/Harvey Norman/Courts/Best Denki?

I'm curious to know if there's actually a decent alternative. It seems llike everyone sells at RRP for notebooks in Singapore.

didnt know PC themes got sell laptop... the rest Google them... got some bad reviews from customers...

Harvey Norman and Best Denki so far can tried to check their prices and free gifts...

Challenger I got mine from Bedok Point... called branch in advance and staff went out to collect from warehouse as dont have stock... got free upgrade of ram and other stated free gifts. Their previous member sales at Funan dont allow free ram upgrade... LLST:s22:

Think PC Themes only sell DIY desktops? Just brought a friend to buy a DIY from them last month. Unless they change their business over the last month...

PC Dreams not bad. Bought from them twice. Good attentive sales person, not those pushy ones like those from some superstores.

They even go to the extend to help out bro in the forums for 1-1 exchanges NOT bought from them.

See:
Voluntary 1-1 exchange by PC Dreams

Quite a "socially responsible" company IMHO. :)

Bought about 5 to 6 of notebooks from PC dreams before. The shop is ok no complains, they are willing to go the extra mile to get the stuff you require. Normally i will deal directly with Mr Tan their boss.

Sometimes places like courts, etc etc, will have some specs that you require. my last notebook that i purchase was with courts, they have the exact specs and they went the extra mile to get the additional ram that i needed for free.

Do look around and formulate a specs that you need and then zoom in to the model that attracts you most. Dont be rush by the sales or in a hurry to buy if u are not. Deals usually come by when u least expect.

Maybe you can explain a bit further? My experience trying to find a laptop is that everyone in Singapore offers the same specs for current models at the same inflated RRP.

Yea, of course they can afford that, given the margins.

Friend, must be fair in your comments.

PC Dreams did 1-1 exchange for purchases that are NOT made with them (but purchase through other superstores). Where is the margin? :)
