Getting a new printer

Hi people!

I'm gonna get a new printer, however I'm not really good at choosing a printer. So I'm hoping those experts can help me

Currently, I'm going to go into university. And my family members will use it as well.

Thus, my requirements will be:
1. Multi-purpose (Scan, Copy, Printing most important).
- As for scan, I'm hoping for the multiple paper scan. Not sure what function it's called, if I'm not wrong it's ADF (Auto Document Feeder)
2. Budget (Less than 500)
3. Maintenance price (Eg. Toner/Cartridge)

I know there's the inkjet and laser printers.

My friends recommended these 2 for me:
- PIXMA MX727 - Canon Singapore - Personal
- Fuji Xerox CM215 FW

Can any experts here give me some advice or suggestion on which is better for me? It will be good if there's other model as well if it's better.

Wow! you are totally comparing btw 2 different models.
Canon 727 is an inkjet machine whereas Fuji xerox one is a laser machine

I will say that if you dont need to print on photo papers ( e.g. 4R size etc),
go for laser printer will be better in the long term. Because they will have

1) Longer warranty - 4 years on-site as suppose to 2 year from canon mx727.
Since you are paying so much for a machine, might as well get one with longer warranty

2) COST PER PAGE IS CHEAPER - 1 set of inkjet ink will cost about $100 for ard 300 plus pages PLUS it will dry up

Laser toner are powder form so they dun dry up PLUS toners can last u ALOT longer

3) In general, laser printers are faster and more reliable than inkjet printers

Hey bargainhunter!

I've pmed you already, but seem like you are busy.

Btw does any other expert know as for the long run should I get the Fuji Xerox or the Canon one? I might used it quite often when my uni starts around early August.

And also, how much does the toner cost for the Fuji model and how many pieces can it print? Any idea?
