Getting a new SSD

Hi guys, currently I'm on this specs..

Intel i5 2400 Biostar TH67+
MSI GTX 460 cylcone 1gb
Kingston 8gb ram
FSP AURUM 500W
Windows 7 OS

Am thinking of getting a SSD to boost up the performance of my PC. Currently, applications are opening up slowly after 1-2 hours into use.
Will the SSD help in this aspect?

SSD will help in every way. But recommended to do a fresh install of OS and your programs. Also, if possible, do get 250gb min, 500gb would be best though.

Multi tasking will also depend on your cpu and ram. For example, if you open loads of chrome tabs, you will see that your 8gb ram will get used up very very fast.

Also, whats ur budget for ssd?

Once you get a SSD for OS, you will never go back to HHD. Unless for storage.

Most likely, the lag may be caused by your HDD.

You cna first get a new ssd, reinstall everything into the ssd and try out. If there is still lag in the processes you mentioned above, try adding another 4-8gb ram if your mobo allows. Although 8gb ram should be more than enough.

Just get the cheapest and avoid Transcend which has data loss problem.

SSD will improve your loading speed when you open your office document pdf etc. As it can read files faster then on traditional hdd. As for multi tasking opening multiple browser tab you will need more ram then 8gb to improve the user experience.
