Backstory:

I used to have a GTX 580 (almost 4 years) but ever since updating to the latest driver, the GPU started crashing on me when I play any game. It eventually got worse and displayed artifacts all over and to the point where I couldnt even get to my desktop without getting a BSOD.

Now I bought a newer card a HD 7770. I've noticed that I'm getting a similar BSOD as I did with my Nvidia GPU randomly on certain games. I tested playing LoL, WoW CS:GO without any issue at all. Run several stress tests with no issues or overheating. However, i've encountered this BSOD randomly on several other games. eg. Guild wars 2, Team Fortress 2. More or less the game would BSOD within a few seconds of playing. Game would stutter at first followed by monitor flickering and a glitched up sound then BSOD.

Download DDU and enter Safe mode. Use it to uninstall nvidia and AMD drivers. Then, restart com and install AMD drivers.

The 5-series GPUs can be quite finicky about drivers. I had a similar problem with the 560Ti. Rolling back to an earlier driver, in my case 296.10, solved the problem.

As with any graphics drivers, you should always remove earlier versions before installing a fresh driver.
