You should read the deductibles and co-insurance part, see if you're willing to take on that risk, if not, good to consider an integrated shield plan offered by 5 insurers in SG!

Summary: C ward, first 1.5k per year you pay on your own, can't claim anything. This applies every year and is known as the deductible.

Co-insurance means you pay a % of the remaining bill, ranging from a 10% tier to 3%.

Must have. I'll say get more than u need. Easy to downgrade, hard to upgrade. I see it as paying known amounts against unknown hosp bill sizes.

Which insurer to get from though... Still figuring that out.

Thinking of getting 400k term+ 200k ci as well. U can refer to my post if interested

If you are married with kids, you may wish to consider getting the AVIVA Integrated Shield plans. If both husband and wife are covered under Plan 1 or Plan 2, Child gets free Plan 2 coverage. You can check out the AVIVA website to read up more. This plus your DPI term coverage of $400k, I would say you are well covered based on the information that you've revealed.

"Child gets free Plan 2 coverage" as in all childrean or only the 1st child?

Then you have to check and compare the individual Integrated Shield Plans and see if there are any differentiating factors which will urge you to buy. If price is a concern, NTUC seems to be the cheapest, GE covers hospice care if I remember correctly. AVIVA offers moratorium underwriting, but I doubt they are the only insurer to do that.
But if you have an existing shield plan and just want to upgrade, you may avoid the hassle of additional underwriting just by sticking to the same insurer.

Shield plan is more normal than normal. Everyone has it. It's called medishield life. Many of us here "upgrade" this medishield shield life with "integrated shield plan", to provide more coverage.

@perisher: note the terminology given by government - integrated shield plan, not h&s

Looking at DPI for Term Death TPD + CI coverage from Tokio Marine.

Anyone with experience to share ?

Have read that DPI CI covers only 30 illness (vs 37), no financial advice given & can get ding-dong around by insurer.
