Getting monitor

I know there's quite a few threads on this, but couldn't make up my mind, and not sure some tech details so thought of asking more.

I'm thinking to get a 27" monitor. Not into gaming, so no need high spec but once in a while, I play dota (kinda game). Mainly use for doing work, not a graphic designer too. Currently, using Dell S2340L, which is pretty good actually.

I saw many threads about 144hz monitor but not sure what exactly does it mean to have a 144hz vs (what-the-norm)hz, or how does it affect my daily usage? Should I get a 1080 27" monitor or a 2k one? Definitely not 4k.

I went through some of the threads, and saw a few being recommended like LG 27MK430H-B, Acer K272HL, Dell U2719H. Budget probably 200-300? I also saw like those Prism+ where it's 2k, 144hz? that cost around 299, 329 or something.

My graphic card chui one, AMD R7 200 series, don't know the exact model.

Appreciate some explanation, and recommendation.

Prefer to get 24" for 1080p. Feel that 27" too big for 1080p unless you go for 1440p.

144Hz means the image refresh faster lor. Image will look smoother. Once you go 144Hz you won't go back to 60Hz.

But if graphic card cui better just go for 60Hz.

144hz means smoother but your pc must able to render 144fps. An example of smoother will be like camping a door in counter strike, in 60fps you will see a person jump across the door like a quick shadow or seemingly teleported but in 144fps you will see the person rendered clearly and not just a shadow. In other words, 144fps allow you to play fast action game reactively instead of instinctively.

1080p max recommendation is 24"
1440p max recommendation is 32"

can have a look at the acer ones 24 / 27 inch 144hz and still generally tad cheaper than other brands

24inch 1080p 60hz will suit u

Reason to go 27 is don't want two monitor. 24 sometimes Abit too small for me to play around. My work usually need some multi tasking with multi window/app to see easily. Mostly for my own comfort. My desk don't really have much space for two monitor hence the 27.

Thanks for the recommendation but 32 is just too big. 27 should be just nice. Monitor is pretty near me. Too big head need to move.

No 4k too.

Just need to know if my current gfx can get those 1440 27 monitor. If not what gfx do I need minimum to use those monitor. And what model of those 27 I can look at.

But for Nividia probably at least a GTX 970 to run 1440p at 60Hz.

Firstly. If you are not running any demanding games and you just planning to use the monitor for simple office work etc. your radeon 200 series card is fine for 1440p 27inch. Maybe for your usage task multiple window etc getting ultrawide monitor for the extra wide screen you can do 2 window side by side easier because the screen is wider. Something like a 34 inch widescreen monitor that kind.

For your usage just 60hz enough. 144hz monitor is for those people want to play first person shooter want to play demanding titles at 144 frames per second for smoother and enjoyable gaming experience. Usually is good for first person shooter. From what I have seen what you describe your usage doesn't need the 144hz. Just get 27inch 60hz or 34inch widescreen monitor will do. Your gpu can handle one.

People say 144hz monitor need good gpu is because you need your gpu to push 144 frames per second. Which you need a powerful gpu to do that. But if you don't even play any demanding games it doesn't matter anymore. Just get 60hz monitor will do. I personally prefer 27inch. 23/24 too small for me.
