Getting the 6+ to replace the Ipad Mini Retina

I ordered iphone 6+ with the hope of having just one single device to work with when I'm on the go (media consumption/working off my mobile phone). And as such, I'm gonna ditch my ipad mini retina once I get hold of the 6+ next week. As a replacement for ditching the ipad mini, I'll also be getting the MS Surface Pro 3, as it's a full fledged portable computer.

I know die hard apple fans will probably recommend MBA in place of the SP3, but I'm still more of a windows guy when it comes to desktop computing.

Anyone doing what I'm planning to do right now? how's the user experience of the 6+ as an ipad mini replacement?
