Hi, I may be asking this question too early.

My son is 14 and just diagnosed with glaucoma:(. Will this affect his PES status in the future when he is enlisted. Asking because he is interested in signing on and is now worried about his chances.

Will appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

I don't think anybody here can say for sure whether it will affect. Neither should you believer who say they are certain.

But from the sound of it (based on what it is said about Glaucoma), sounds like a high possibility that that it will affect his PES in the way that he might not be combat fit to sign on.

But that being said, only the MO can say for sure when he goes for his pre-enlistment checkup.

you may like to write in to NS portal for your queries. The certified medical professionals from the SAF would be able to get back to you.

Nevertheless, if your son's treatment doctor is a local male Singaporean, he should be able to advise as well.

My opinion here,

Not really a good sign that your son will get be able to get a combat fit pes. I doubt SAF/SPF/SCDF would want to risk sending your son out to a combat/frontline vocation. But in the end its up to the doctors during the check up pre enlistment

I would like to just ask something not relating to the question.

Does your son rub his eyes frequently?
