Global SMS

Hi,

I saw this charges on my monthly billing statement. Called 1688 and discovered that the charges were due to switching on iMessage and FaceTime? I was told that every time when I on the iMessage, it will send a global SMS to UK(???) to seek their permission to use this application? Isn't it iMessage is originated from US? Very puzzle! Anyone can advise on this issue? Thank you.

PS: I do not have any contact or dealing in overseas.

That is correct.
every time you toggle on iMessage, a global SMS is dispatch to Apple's server to verify your number.

no, but inorder for u to use iMessage, u need to toggle the iMessage switch to "on"

This is only if u want to register ur phone number for iMessage. You can get away with using your email only.

but that's no way for you to NOT choose your phone number. I wanna try to uncheck my number, is greyed out.
