Go China for 2 weeks

Time to throw out those prejudices and stereotypes.

Yes. Really an eye opener. First time go to China. People here very friendly unlike what I read from the news. I think people here very patriotic. No queue at Din Tai Fung but a lot of queue at local restaurant the grandma's.

Seriously? I've been to China countless of times (since 2011) and different parts (17 cities at least). They are the worst I've ever met. Of cos I have met nice Chinese before too. But generally, I won't term them as very friendly or friendly.

Trying queuing for something and have the Chinese jumping queue (happens all the time), gets pushed and elbowed and they can say they just touched you lightly/slightly only, watching a street show and someone's bag keeps hitting you and you tell the person, the person retorted why her bag can't touch you, people pushing you (thru an exhibit at an attraction) and you tell the person not to push, he'll reply saying he's not pushing (obviously lying)....I can go on and on and on.... Lol

I am not sure if this is due to patriotism. May be the perceived value or taste that they do not like of Ding Tai Fung.

Agree. Love-hate relationship. Sometimes I wish I get to visit China without its people. Saw the worst of them at Expo 2010 and also the peak-hour cross-border commute with HK.

It is just my first time in China.
One complain is the traffic light.
It is very obvious pedestrian light is green, the car keep moving and horn me as if I beat the red light.

Haha, agree with the previous posters about the love and hate relationship. I almost never recommend China as a tourist destination (many tacky sights, unruly behaviour of some locals) yet I have been there many times. But maybe things have been improving. I visited Shanghai Pudong last month and was surprised to find the area very clean and service staff are polite and helpful.

The younger generation in China r much nicer and friendlier than the old. Its usually the old or those from the countryside that give off the bad impressions..

the rule of Singapore zebra crossing doesn't apply. the car got there first
